​​Pre-Retirement Full-Day Seminars

Pre-Retirement Full-Day Seminars offer general information on a range of topics including estate planning, Mississippi Deferred Compensation Plan & Trust, Social Security benefits, and PERS benefits and options.

These are pre-scheduled seminars, which run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., are offered to PERS members at no cost but require pre-registration for members, spouses, and guest. If a spouse or guest is a PERS member, please register them separately.

Pre-Retirement Full-Day Seminars do not provide individual counseling sessions. To schedule an individual session with a PERS representative, call 601-359-3589 or 800-444-7377. 

​​Early Career/New Employee Seminars

Early Career/New Employee seminars offer an overview of PERS and what it means to be a part of a defined benefit plan like PERS. A representative of Mississippi Deferred Compensation Plan & Trust (MDC) will also be available to discuss the benefits of enrolling in MDC.

These hour-and-a-half seminars are offered as prescheduled events held at various locations around the state or at the request of a PERS employer at that employer’s worksite.

​​Focus Sessions

Focus Sessions are small-group sessions where PERS staff provides all registered members in attendance an Estimate of Benefits, comprehensive information about benefits, and available benefit options, as well as information on the retirement process.

These two-hour sessions are held every Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. and every Thursday at 2 p.m. Focus Sessions are provided at no cost but require pre-registration for members, spouses, and guest. If a spouse or guest is a PERS member, please register them separately.
